At Unyte, we’re proud to see people grow their careers with us – and few journeys capture that better than Michael Roberts! 

We incredibly proud to announce that Michael has been promoted to National HSEQ Manager at Unyte, capping off a career with Symal that’s spanned multiple businesses, roles and projects. 

Starting as a HSEQ Coordinator with Civilex in 2018, Michael has steadily worked his way through the organisation – from Shared Services to Symal Infrastructure and now Unyte. Along the way, he’s left his mark on some of our most significant projects, including the Metro Tunnel Early Works, Chisolm Road Prison, Collector Wind Farm and the Geelong–Bacchus Marsh Road upgrades. 

Beyond projects, Michael has been instrumental in rolling out the Safety 7 framework and helping secure OFSC accreditation for both Symal Infrastructure and Wamarra – milestones that strengthened safety across the business. 

But what really sets Michael apart is his approach, deep technical expertise, a practical mindset and a genuine commitment to supporting the people around him. 

“I’ve been lucky to work with some incredible teams and mentors,” Michael says. “Seeing others grow in their roles and being part of that journey has been the most rewarding part of my career so far.” 

In his new role, Michael will focus on developing Unyte’s HSEQ team alongside Michael Spiteri, embedding safety as a cultural driver while supporting Unyte’s growing pipeline of projects. 

“For HSEQ to succeed, we need to be agile, efficient and innovative,” he explains. “I want our team to be seen as enablers – supporting our people on the ground to deliver safely and with confidence.”
