Unyte was engaged by Kings Christian College to deliver a $4.5M carpark and bridge project at its campus in Reedy Creek, Queensland. The works support improved access to the College’s new sports field and running track located behind the high school, enhancing safety, convenience and traffic flow across the growing campus.
The project forms part of the College’s broader master plan to upgrade infrastructure and improve accessibility for students, staff and visitors.
Project inclusions
- Construction of two bridges, a 4-span 40m long FRP cast-in-situ bridge with a cantilever footpath and guardrail, and a 1-span 10m bridge
- Installation of 21 bored piles (900mm diameter) with liners
- Delivery of a 1,236m² asphalt carpark with kerb and channel
- Access road upgrades to improve site circulation and connectivity
- FRP bioretention basin and stormwater management infrastructure
- Bulk earthworks including clearing and grubbing, topsoil stripping and cut-to-fill operations
- Erosion and sediment control measures to comply with waterway protection requirements
Overcoming challenging site conditions
The project footprint sits within a natural causeway, creating persistent wet conditions and highly saturated ground. To address these challenging geotechnical conditions, the Unyte team collaborated closely with the temporary works specialists to design and implement a bespoke temporary piling pad system. This solution provided stable access for piling rigs and concrete delivery vehicles while maintaining strict environmental controls to protect the surrounding waterway and ecological features.
Through proactive resequencing of the construction program and close collaboration with the College, works continued to progress efficiently despite the complex ground conditions, resulting in on-time delivery.
Collaborative delivery
Strong collaboration between Unyte and Kings Christian College has been key to the project’s success. Open communication, flexible planning and shared problem-solving enabled the team to respond quickly to site challenges while maintaining safety, quality and environmental stewardship.
The completed infrastructure will provide improved access and functionality for the campus, supporting the College community for years to come.
